After reading this ‘Is Blood Thicker than Water’ post it got me thinking.
Yes, sometimes it is thicker… but sometimes it certainly is not. Even if you are lucky enough to have a close family then it can still be a bad thing. There is, after all, such a thing as ‘toxic intimacy’. Sometimes families can be downright claustrophobic. At least it is easier with your friends to some degree. That old adage of ‘you can choose your friends, but not your family’ is very true indeed.
Of course, there are always exceptions… It is also important to remember that, even if your relations drive you nuts sometimes, there are a lot of people who have never even known their family. So if you are one of the lucky ones, then maybe its time that you start to take advantage of what you got!
